Social Events Team Lead

Why is this position important
To fulfil the community association’s broader vision, mission and values, this role should help residents feel connected and invested, and should provide opportunities for recreation which will make the community welcoming and fun!

The roles/duties of the position
To coordinate events and delegate as appropriate to event volunteers, and manage the events budget for the year.

The characteristics we’re looking for
Event planning and leadership experience would be largely beneficial to coordinate a multitude of event volunteers and up to 100+ event attendees. This individual should be well-organized and able to engage and manage volunteers.

 

Social Events Team Members

Why is this position important

The roles/duties of the positions
To assist with coordination of events, including researching event ideas, booking rentals, shopping for supplies, setting up for events, lending a hand during events for ad hoc activities, cleaning up after events. This will vary depending on the event. Volunteers are able to commit to certain roles and tasks as they are available. Time commitment is generally less than 2-3 hours/event.

The characteristics we’re looking for
We welcome any and all ages and skill levels! This is a great role for those who just want to lend a hand and support their community events.

 

Membership Team Member – Strategic Partnerships

Why is this position important
The community requires funds to continue its operations in maintaining the hall, hosting events, and continuing to improve its capacity. This role will aim to create Strategic partnerships with local businesses to bring additional flexibility to the community association to further subsidize events, host more events, or improve the community center to build a better and stronger community.

The roles/duties of the position
Identify potential partners and establish relationships with them to understand how the SCA can provide mutual benefit to those partners. Work with the board to set a policy to appropriately attract business memberships and other partnerships.

The characteristics we’re looking for
Desire to strengthen the relationship between local business partners and the community. This individual should the necessary leadership and networking skills required to carry out the vision.

 

Main Streets Lead

Why is this position important
The City of Calgary Main Streets project will transform the streetscape of 17th Avenue, and an excellent engineering and engagement team from the City of Calgary is taking a collaborative approach to changes planned. The individual in this role will collaborate with the City to ensure that the communities interests are known and accounted for by engaging residents and attending a series of City hosted engagement meetings.

The roles/duties of the position
Attendance and participation in City engagement for Main Streets events. This is a temporary position which could evolve into a position on the development team.

The characteristics we’re looking for
Ideally an interest in architecture and urban planning.A keen interest in improving bike and pedestrian realms would be very helpful. Good attributes would be the ability to engage residents, encourage round table discussion and remain neutral
