Dear Shaganappi Community Members,

We received the following email from Matco Development regarding the proposed “Soccer Dome” near Westbrook Mall. The detailed plans for the site can be viewed here: Circulation Package DP2018-0490.pdf

“Many residents of the Shaganappi neighbourhood are aware of recent press concerning Matco Development Corp.’s plans for an indoor recreation facility as a proposed temporary use at Westbrook Station.

To provide more information, together with the Shaganappi Community Association, we will be hosting an engagement session with interested residents on April 9th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm to present  Matco’s thoughts on how the proposed recreational facility is integrated into a suite of temporary, community-oriented uses that will serve to evolve as the larger development vision for the property is realized in time.

The DP2018-0490 application currently under review included over 400 parking stalls to address the minimum number of parking stalls required by bylaw to support a recreation facility of this type. Based on feedback to date from adjacent Community Associations, and subject to your views, we are prepared to provide an amount significantly below the City’s bylaw requirement.

We look forward to meeting and engaging with Shaganappi residents on April 9 and hearing the community’s  feedback. At this meeting we also wish to provide an update on the long-term development vision and strategy for the property, now branded as uptown@westbrook.

If there are any questions prior to the open house, do not hesitate to contact Matco representatives Rob Millar rob@matcodev.com, Joseph Sereda joseph@matcodev.com or Eileen Stan eileen@matcodev.com and make sure you cc. your feedback to Ron, Mike, Beth, David and Jeremy at development@shaganappicommunity.ca.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

EILEEN STAN BSC, MSC
Vice President Development
MATCO DEVELOPMENT CORP.

Regards,

Shaganappi Community Association
