‘Main Streets’ are active areas that attract Calgarians to socialize, work, shop, dine, celebrate local events and are often important transportation routes. The City of Calgary has identified 24 main streets, many of which were originally street car lines.
The City has established a ‘Main Streets’ team to work with main street users, industry stakeholder and economic experts, to propose planning solutions to promote the success of Calgary’s main streets. Once an ongoing analysis and evaluation phase of the project is complete, the team will report back to main street communities about the selection of high priority projects.
Shaganappi’s 17th Avenue corridor (from Crowchild Trail to 37th St) is included in the evaluation. Download a summary of feedback from the City’s initial engagement phase.
